These four great tips will help you prepare your home for the market.

How should you prepare your home for sale? It’s not uncommon for us to work for months with clients as they get their house ready for the market. Here are our top four tips:

1. Talk to an experienced real estate professional. Have them come to your property and do a walk-through. It’s common for sellers to feel a little uncomfortable during these walk-throughs, but try to keep the end goal in mind. The agent is there to help you.

2. Make the suggested improvements. Do the repairs the real estate agent recommends; they look at many homes and can see them through the eyes of a buyer. They’re your best chance at constructive advice about your house’s condition.

“Buyers are spending more and more time online looking at listings.”

3. Declutter and depersonalize. In most cases, we suggest the seller remove some furniture and personal belongings to help their home feel larger and more open. You should remove all personal photos, as these cause buyers to subconsciously see the house as yours, making it difficult for them to picture themselves living there.

4. Professional photographs. Have professional photos taken of the property, as well as a Matterport video tour. These are a necessity in today’s market, as buyers are spending more and more time online looking at listings. If you have a large parcel of land or outbuildings, I recommend getting aerial drone photos taken.

As always, if you have further questions about preparing your home for sale or anything else concerning real estate, just call, text, or email us. We would love to help you.
